The
Contribution program in facing
the irregular migration (CPFIM)
This program was approved at the
third consultative meeting between the Islamic Committee
of the International Crescent (ICIC) and the Red Cross
and Red Crescent Societies (RC/RC) in the OIC members
States in May 2013 in Tunis, Tunisia, in order to
increase attention to this humanitarian issue and to
contribute to the programs of alleviating its negative
effects, with RC/RC national societies in countries of
origin of African irregular migration its base in
Tunisian Red Crescent (TRCS) Tunis,
A joint program between the ICIC
and the Tunisian Red Crescent (TRCS) , in cooperation
with the Red Crescent and the Red Cross Societies in the
countries of origin, transit and receiving countries. A
memorandum of understanding was signed on 17 March 2015
for cooperation between the ICIC and TRCS, participates
in the face of this phenomenon.
The CPFIM aims at a broad
approach to international efforts on this phenomenon
through three phases (risk education, human capacity
development, economic development and individuals) to
address their humanitarian, social and economic impact,
on the following:
- Awareness campaigns
on the dangers of irregular migration.
- The establishment
of human capacity development courses for the
preparation of trainers in national societies of origin
of irregular migration, to conduct training courses for
applicants in the target countries in various fields of
crafts according to local needs.
- Providing
micro-projects for the economic development of
individuals whose capacities are being developed.
In the first installment, the
program targets countries exporting irregular migration:
Niger, Chad, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Mali,
Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone.
This CPFIM is a program of
cooperation and partnership open to all parties to join,
within this framework between the ICIC and the Red Cross
and Red Crescent Societies, among the following parties:
- ICIC + TRCS.
- The Red Cross and Red Cross
Societies in countries of origin of irregular migration,
transit and reception countries.
- International, regional and
national organizations interested in irregular
migration.
A program manager has been
assigned, who has taken action on this program.
